Tottenham Hotspur heads to Arsenal for the first north London derby of the 2019-20 season, and it’s a clash that sees two arch-rivals badly in need of a win. Both sides lost in disheartening fashion last weekend albeit for very different reasons.
For the Gunners, it was same old same old, in terms of very poor away form. For Spurs, it was a very surprising home loss to Newcastle, a side that many believe will be in the relegation scrap. Neither side wants to head into the long international break with another disappointment, piled on top of the one they’re already recovering from.
The last thing you want, during the down time ahead, is negative momentum.
Mauricio Pochettino met the media ahead of the derby, and his during his press conference he ripped the stories claiming he was going to leave the club after this match as “stupid.” He made it known that these so-called reports are just rumors, and that he’s staying put right where he is.
“I am not going to walk away after the north London derby,” he said.
“I will be here on Monday and Tuesday.”
That said, let’s take a look at who the Argentine could start in his first team on Sunday. We were toying with the idea of slotting Davinson Sanchez in this prediction, but elected not to at the last minute.
