After taking a couple transfer windows off, Tottenham Hotspur are set to get back in the game. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino feels confident that Daniel Levy and the rest of the higher-ups above him will finally provide the support he needs in the transfer market this summer.
That means the time is right for some Tottenham transfer talk and we begin with an update on Tanguy Ndombele, who saw some premature, “jumping the gun” kind of coverage surround him this past week.
Four days ago, Sky reported that Tottenham reached an agreement with Lyon for the acquisition of the talented midfielder; for the eye-popping sum of £65 million.
That hypothetical transfer fee would break the club record, if it were true, but this report has since been debunked as fake news by the Lyon club president. However, the deal could still be on, as numerous outlets are reporting that talks will continue this week.
Don’t hold your breath waiting though as it is understood that Lyon are not in a hurry to get this one over the line.
Football London has a post today about an Instagram post by Ndombele that might, or might not, be hinting at a possible transfer. Tis the season for overanalyzing and overhyping footballer social media posts.
Next we move on to Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract at the end of the upcoming season.
The winger has made it known that he would like to leave, preferably for a bigger club. He’s been linked to Real Madrid and Juventus, but with the former already taking care of player acquisition business elsewhere and the latter fixated on bringing Paul Pogba back, Eriksen may need to look elsewhere.
He’s been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool as well, with former Spurs ace Jamie O’Hara believing Anfield to be the better destination.
The latest reports surrounding Eriksen claim that Madrid turned down an offer from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Why? the Reyes del Europa were turned off by the €70-million price tag on the player.
Finally, the English tabloids have claimed that Tottenham and Juventus are in the mix for Burnley’s Dwight McNeil. NBC Sports has more at this link, citing The Sun.
