Tottenham Hotspur Capt. Hugo Lloris Out Injured Until New Year

It’s a really rough patch right now for Tottenham Hotspur, and it could get much worse before it gets better. Today we receive confirmation that Spurs will be without team captain and starting goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who suffered a serious arm injury in the early stages of the north London side’s 3-0 home loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Scans have since revealed that there is no fracture in his left elbow, but an MRI showed ligament damage.

“I spoke to him,” France national team manager Didier Deschamps said at a news conference today.

“He is on the mend. He had more exams this morning. It is difficult today to say how long exactly he will be unavailable for. The possibility of a fracture has been ruled out but the ligaments have been damaged.

“I am not a doctor but I know that he will not be with us during this international break or the next one in November for sure. He will start a protocol now for his rehabilitation.”

“But he will be out for a few weeks and a few months. He won’t play again in 2019 that is almost a certitude.”

Well, it certainly could have been worse for Spurs (and the current World Champions), but this is still obviously really bad news.
