Wayne Rooney, and Manchester United as a whole, have been receiving a ton of criticism lately. Following the embarrassing collapse at lowly Leicester City on Sunday, it’s been coming from all angles. Rooney and company have been slammed by media, supporters, rival supporters, ex-players, pundits, ESPN FC (they really piled it on), pretty much everywhere.
It prompted Man United and England National Team Captain Wayne Rooney to present this message on the wall of his official Facebook page:
“There seems to be a lot of people who have written us off because of Sundays result but I don’t see it that way. When I look around our dressing room and see the quality we have and the managers unbelievable attention to detail I have no doubts this team will be successful.”
Wayne Rooney hit back at those who slammed him and his team, in a very classy manner. That’s what a true captain does. That’s what leadership is.
