United 3, Norwich 1 News and Notes: Rashford, Martial, Wan-Bissaka, McTominay

On Thursday night, in UEL action, Manchester United broke out of a nasty slump that saw them go 12 away matches without a win. Today, they made it two wins in two road games. What is going on here? This is madness!

The Red Devils won 3-1 at Norwich City today and they did it despite missing two penalty kicks. Yes, not one, but two spot kicks and the failures in this component of the game will no doubt bring back bad memories of early season points that should not have been dropped.

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul just stood on his head in this one. He have a phenomenal effort in a loss, which keeps the Canaries the penultimate side in the table, ahead of just winless Watford. The win brought United up to 7th, and they’re just two points off the pace of qualifying for European football of some sort next season.

While both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial missed from the spot today, they were both able to achieve scoring strikes from open play. Scott McTominay completed the scoring for the visitors while Onel Hernandez scored very late, to make sure the hosts weren’t blanked.

When Rashford and Martial are on, and more importantly healthy, they are among the best attacking duos in the league. However, the man of the match was Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was credited with 11 tackles today. He looks to be worth every penny that was paid for him to Crystal Palace by United this summer.

Up next for United is a League Cup round of 16 clash on Wednesday night.
