Here’s one name you can already pencil in for your Manchester United starting XI- Marcus Rashford. Manager Jose Mourinho told the media, in regards to Rashford: “For me, the next big game is against Feyenoord and he is going to play. I trust him completely. I know his future will be absolutely brilliant.”
“He [Rashford] is mainly a No.??9 but, if you want to play him in different positions, we need to improve him. But his big personality is there.”
Yes, you can mark it down, Rashford will start Thursday night in the Europa League against Feyenoord.
“Normally, people look to the football talent but the personality at this level is very important and he was showing that immediately. [Rashford can play as a] wide man or we play with both [him and Ibrahimovic up front], which we can do perfectly like we did against Hull City.
“I felt they [City] had fragility on the sides and the kid could give us in the second half what we didn’t get from Micki [Mkhitaryan] and Jesse [Lingard] in the first half.”
It’s a crowded, but very talented attack for Manchester United this season. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the now, with Marcus Rashford the future. Of course, the future is now as Rashford looks like he has the potential to really break out and assume the position.
His time will come, and he has a couple of special, wonderful unique opportunities at his disposal. Zlatan has the utmost confidence that Rashford will one day “take over everything.” For more on all that go to this link.
When asked if some positions are up for grabs in the starting XI, Mourinho said only this: “Performances are the only way that I can decide. So if you are asking me if they are going to play against Feyenoord, then no.
“And it is not to punish them, it is just to decide in relation to what I have. And what do I have? Their performances. So, of course, I am going to play other players.”
It appears the starting lineup for the Europa League tie on Thursday night could see some changes from what we’re used to in the Premier League fixtures.
