It’s the last international break of the season, and thus, Manchester United are currently off until March 30. We don’t have a game to talk about for awhile, but there are plenty of transfer rumors to discuss. The summer transfer window doesn’t open for awhile yet, but the futures of many key United players remains up in the air.
Let’s take a spin through the inter webs and see what’s buzzing in Manchester United cyberspace right now.
We begin with striker Marcus Rashford, who is leading the summer shopping wish list of the Catalan Club. Yes, FC Barcelona want to acquire the United forward in the next transfer window, and they’re also keen on Atletico’s Antoine Griezman and young Eintracht Frankfurt star Luka Jovic.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mirror). In fact, Barca are chasing Rashford so hard that a club executive has likened it to trying to date Cindy Crawford, or a supermodel on par with with her in star power.
“We don’t want to approach a player that still has a contract with Manchester United,” an unnamed Barcelona executive told ESPN today.
“He’s a great player but has [18 months] to run on his contract at Old Trafford. Even though it seems talks over a renewal have stopped for now, I’m sure United will try to convince him [to stay] however they can. He’s one of the pillars of their future.”
Next we stay in the final third, and look at the latest update on supposed top target Jadon Sancho. The England international is wanted by many of the world’s richest clubs, including United and PSG, but Borussia Dortmund maintain that he’s not going anywhere.
In regards to the transfer narratives linking Sancho with a move to Old Trafford, BVB Chief Michael Zorc told Bild, (h/t Daily Mail): “I have no knowledge of it, but it has no relevance.”
“I’m far from putting a price tag on Jadon, but I say, his transfer would be difficult even for the biggest clubs in the world at the moment. Jadon will play for Borussia Dortmund next season. He certainly will not play until his retirement in Dortmund. That is also true.”
It doesn’t look like the former Manchester City man is going back to England, or anywhere else, at least not now.
Finally, we conclude with another twist in the Ander Herrera contract/transfer saga. Herrera, who will see his United deal conclude at the end of the season, has been linked with a move to PSG. Yesterday, the Spaniard spoke on the transfer rumors, saying they are “logical.”
Today, we learned that Arsenal are keen on trying to hijack any potential PSG acquisition. Herrera would certainly fill a position of need for the Gunners. The Daily Mirror has more at this link.
