Manchester United are taking a break from the gloom and cold of winter (I wish I was too!) to train this week in Dubai, as a massive fixture at Tottenham Hotspur approaches on Sunday. At the same time, the Man United transfer rumor mill has been churning overtime with the January window now in full effect.
We have a lot of ground to cover, let’s just dive right in.
TeamTalk claims that Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel Brazao is a United target; with Inter Milan, AS Roma and Arsenal all interested as well. Looking at a potential down the line replacement for David de Gea in the long-term, perhaps?
Speaking of Brazilians, Monday’s rumor mill was dominated by talk of Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho, and that narrative is just too ridiculous to really waste any time on.
We almost feel wrong for even linking to a story on that, as why give that any oxygen? The former Liverpool man is just not moving to Old Trafford right now, and it’s pretty pointless to even bring that up, so let’s just move on.
-Midfielder Ander Herrera is as rah rah for the club as anyone, and he’s made it known many times how much he wants to stay long term at the Theatre of Dreams. However, his former club, Athletic Bilbao are making no secret of just how much they want to bring him back. New Athletic Bilbao sporting director Rafa Alkorta has listed out his club’s transfer targets during a media interview.
“We are interested in Javi Martinez, Ibai Gomez, Ander Herrera, Fernando Llorente…all of them interest us,” Alkorta said Cadena SER.
“It’s obvious that any player that can play for Athletic is of interest to us. Nothing is easy but we are interested in having all of the ones that can come. We have not made any moves yet. We will start on Tuesday and we will see what can be done.”
The club’s transfer policy is to only sign players born in the Basque country, or to have come up the ranks through a club in the Basque region.
