Manchester United Jose Mourinho glowing with positivity and happiness- are you ready for this? Are you sure? That’s the power of Fred, the Brazilian midfielder who was United’s first addition this summer transfer window.
Mourinho has projected more gloom and doom than usual this summer, especially so during the team’s preseason exhibition tour, and United’s transfer window ended on a sour note, with no players signed after July 3. However, Fred is certainly a United summer preseason topic to get excited about, both on-the-pitch, and from a transfer window perspective.
Mourinho extolled the virtues of the summer pick-up from Shakhtar Donetsk in an interview with club website MUTV.
“I think Fred, already with only 70/75 minutes at Old Trafford, I think people already like him. People can already feel his positive influence on the team and on the style of football that the team wants to play,” said Mourinho.
“When we brought him here, we knew he could influence the dynamic because he could attract other people to follow him in the way he thinks football and the way he likes to play football. So we are really happy. And a part of that is his character, he’s a good guy to have around, a funny guy and a guy who always has a smile on his face.
“He doesn’t speak good English but he speaks with everyone and understands everyone and they understand him. He’s a really, really good guy and he brought new music to the place because we were a bit tired of [David] De Gea and Ashley Young’s music all the time!”
Good vibes and good times within the dressing room are somethings that all sides strive for, but United are a club that really needs that right now. Fred will retain his starting place with the Red Devils today when they kick off at Brighton & Hove Albion in a few moments.
He’ll line up on the right in the midfield, with Andreas Pereira in the center and Paul Pogba on the left.
