Back in January, Manchester United opened talks with Benfica over a deal for centre-back Ezequiel Garay which will be completed at the end of the season. Ezequiel Garay has been targeted by the Red Devils in each of the last four transfer windows, with both Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes coveting him.
Now it looks like Tottenham Hotspur have joined in to the running to grab him. At least according to Football Direct News.
Despite Benfica previously insisting that they won’t sell the player. he finally looks set to move to Old Trafford. According to Portugese newspaper Abola, the 27-year-old is on the cusp of signing an agreement to join United at the end of the season.
Moyes is willing to pay his €20 million release clause to bring him to Old Trafford, according to The Mirror.
We’ll see how all that changes now that Spurs have shown interest.
Ezequiel Garay, who is seen as a long-term replacement for Rio Ferdinand. It is believed that Ferdinand will retire or move another league. He’s been long linked to the Chicago Fire, of the MLS in America.
