David de Gea evades United contract release clause query

Oh no, here we go again. Well, probably not, as Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea isn’t going anywhere any time soon, but we have to hear the noise anyway. Following his clean sheet versus the Ukraine, De Gea was asked if his current contract with United contains a release clause.

De Gea would not confirm or deny that the clause exists, instead deferring to his agent Jorge Mendes.

“You should ask Jorge that question,” De Gea said. “He’s the one who pays attention to those details.”

So again the “will he or won’t he?” Real Madrid transfer narrative restarts. This time it was partially ignited by Spain Manager Vicente del Bosque saying: “He must be happy at Spain and United, and in the future he will have the chance to go where he wants.”

The remark is a little bit suggestive. Not a lot; just a little. Also, it’s currently international break so there’s not as much to talk about. Factor in that Del Bosque was referring to De Gea, a man whose name is now synonymous with transfer drama, and now you have a story.
