If you want to be a professional athlete, sometimes you must do anything that it takes. That can involve taking part in a wide range of activities to boost your fitness and skills. It’s the difference between making millions of dollars per year versus sitting back and watching sports on the TV.

Some teams and individuals definitely do take things to the next level. It’s unlikely they would operate the same way without their unlikely training methods. We’re going to take a look at some of the big ones used around the world and who exactly uses them.

New Orleans Saints – CrossFit

Sean Payton, coach of the New Orleans Saints is a massive CrossFit fan, so it’s no surprise he incorporated it into their training last year. They eventually went on to finish the season 11-5.

Although the players weren’t happy about their new training method it eventually grew on them. With CrossFit software from WellnessLiving hopefully more normal people can follow in the footsteps of their heroes.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Taekwondo

He might be 35 years old, but Zlatan is tearing up the Premier League this season. It’s also a few seasons after everyone thought he was too old, but Zlatan makes up his own rules and might win the Golden Boot.

The legend has a black belt in Taekwondo and it might go some way towards explaining his overhead kick against England. For such a huge monster taekwondo has definitely giving him lots of fancy footwork.

Steve McLendon – Ballet

Can you ever imagine a New York Jets player doing ballet on a regular basis? According to Steve McLendon, it’s apparently harder than anything else he has ever done. That includes getting bashed around on the field.

It must be painful putting all that weight on his toes. His instructors say they put him through tougher routines than they do most of the girls who do it. You’ve got to say it’s definitely working even though it’s not going to go mainstream.

Cincinnati Bengals – Mixed Martial Arts

Lots of NFL teams are incorporating mixed martial arts into their training. Ben Creamer has been specializing in hand combat training for over a decade and has spent a lot of time with the Cincinnati Bengals.

A few years ago he worked with Carlos Dunlap, who was one of the best sackers throughout the season. Is it any coincidence one of the top sackers has been working hard with a guy who specializes in hand combat?

Novak Djokovic – Yoga

Novak Djokovic isn’t number one in the rankings right now, but it’s fair to say he is the best tennis player in the world. It’s a tough call between him and Roger Federer for best player ever, which yoga has something to do with.

Even Shaq and King James are part of a growing number of NBA stars (past and present) who perform yoga on a regular basis. If more gyms used business management software from WellnessLiving.com we might unearth new superstars.

There Is Definitely A Carryover

When some of the biggest stars in the world are using other sports in their training it’s obvious a carryover exists. The only question is which one is best, or maybe it’s a case of different things working depending on the individual and their profession. It’s always worth testing everything for yourself.
