Violence erupted again ahead of another Liverpool UEFA Champions League match at Anfield. AS Roma ultras attacked Liverpool supporters with belts and batons ahead of the Reds 5-2 victory in the home leg of their semifinal tie with the Serie A side.
A 53-year-old male Liverpool supporter was seriously injured and left in critical condition following an assault that resulted in two men from Rome getting arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Merseyside police released a statement indicating that: “nine men, aged between 20 and 43 years, were arrested for various offences including attempted murder, affray, Section 47 assault, possession of offensive weapons, possession of a controlled drug, criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly.”
Liverpool Football Club also released a statement, conveying how they are “shocked and appalled after a Liverpool supporter was left in a critical condition having been attacked prior to the Champions League fixture against AS Roma.”
“Our thoughts, in the first instance, are with the victim and his family at this very traumatic time. We will be offering them our full support,” the statement continues.
