Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has shot down the speculation that he’s exploring an opportunity to join Real Madrid. The Reds superstar, one of three players to share the Premier League Golden Boot Award (top scorer) spoke out about the transfer narratives linking him to the city that he’s currently in (for Saturday’s UEFA Champions League Final against Tottenham Hotspur at the Wanda Metropolitano Estadio).
“This is always part of football so we have to deal with it but for me the most important thing is Liverpool and I’m happy here,” Mane said, via the Guardian.
“I’m preparing for one of the biggest games for the club and the fans and the players as well, so let’s focus on this one first and win it. It’s always a pleasure that this kind of team wants you but don’t forget Liverpool. We beat big teams.”
The Sadio Mane to Real transfer gossip stories don’t even make sense, as the Santiago Bernabeu is inching closer to signing someone else who plays his position- Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard. Real Madrid President Florentino Perez just spoke out about their transfer plans a couple days ago, saying that Hazard was the only player they have made contact over this summer transfer window.
While Perez didn’t mention Sadio Mane by name, he did dismiss links to all players other than Hazard that have come up in paper talk, including Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
