Mo Salah Promises a Trophy at Liverpool this Season

It’s always tricky to guarantee victory in sports. You’re truly putting yourself way out on the line and that’s exactly what Mo Salah did here by promising a trophy of some sort at Liverpool this season. The Egyptian winger made a guarantee that there will be silverware at Anfield this season.

“We are working hard every day to win something and I am sure we will this year,” Salah said. “I am always saying I want to win titles here.

“I came here to win titles. To win something for the club, for us, for the fans. I would love to win something here.”

Well, it won’t be the Premier League title, as manager Jurgen Klopp conceded that to Manchester City long ago. The Reds are also eliminated from the EFL Cup, so forget that. The have advanced to the knockout round of the Champions League, where a tie with Porto awaits.

Liverpool also kick off their FA Cup campaign next month with a Merseyside Derby clash against Everton.

Thus two chances for a trophy remain, and either one would also bring the first piece of silverware ever won for Liverpool in the Jurgen Klopp era. The Reds’ last major honor came via the 2012 League Cup. Mo Salah is certainly doing his part though. Having scored 20 goals already this season, he is the first to reach that mark since Luis Suarez in 2013-14, during the extremely entertaining league runner-up season which saw Liverpool field a very fun to watch side.
