Jurgen Klopp Slams Premier League for Moving Up Merseyside Derby

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp showed the world tonight that the way to beat Manchester City is to not invite pressure, and instead embrace the philosophy that the best defense is a good offense. The result was resounding, a 3-0 victory in the home leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.

The Reds got all three goals before half time, and that was more than enough. Up next for Liverpool is a rivalry clash against Everton that the Premier League moved up from from Sunday to Saturday; this despite the Wednesday night Champions League clash. Klopp used his post match media opportunities tonight as a chance to once again rail against the league for scheduling the Merseyside derby in this manner.

“We play on Saturday at 12:30 and if you want to see games like this, then the Premier League have to think about (rescheduling) — have to think about, really,” Klopp told BT Sport.

“Because that will be really tough, and probably Everton are more happy about the game (kickoff time) than we are, and that’s not fair. Being in international competition should not cause you problems. It should be something good, and not cause you problems.”

“We have now a problem to find somehow players for Saturday, and everyone’s telling us it’s the most important game of the year, and that’s quite difficult,” Klopp continued.

“So I’m not really over the moon at the moment, I’m really angry about a few people who make decisions in this league.”

It’s true- this upcoming match is a derby, and those are always huge. On the other hand however, Liverpool don’t have anything else to play for in the league, as their top four finish is pretty much sewn up.

The men of Jurgen Klopp also have a real chance to go even deeper in Champions League now, and that should be their priority. The German is totally right though, regarding the grievances he aired. One would naturally be angry if placed in this situation.
