It’s just twenty some days now until the 2016 Summer Olympiad in Rio begins. The summer games will see the United States Women’s National Team attempt to become the first side to ever win the World Cup one summer and an Olympic gold medal the next.
Center back Julie Johnston will be one of the most impactful players towards whether or not the USWNT accomplish that goal.
Johnston was a major workhorse last summer, anchoring a back line that was the backbone of the team.
This summer, the USWNT could see 11 or 12 players make their Olympic debut, and with that kind of turnover, veteran leaders like Julie Johnston will really be key.
