Eric Cantona Says he Would Manage Manchester United if they Asked Him

Eric Cantona maintains that there are only two individuals who really should be managing Manchester United right now- Pep Guardiola and himself!

Cantona is concerned about the current state of affairs at Old Trafford, not just the results, but the lack of style points as well. The King, who has often spoken very highly of Guardiola and his tactics, believes that the current Manchester City boss should be leading the red side of Manchester instead.

However, Cantona also said he would answer the call if the club asked him to manage the side.

“Listen. I joke about Manchester City but they are playing great football,” Cantona told the Daily Mail in an interview.

“It’s just that I think Guardiola should be at United. He is the spiritual child of Johan Cruyff — he played under Cruyff at Barcelona and learned everything from him. He’s the only person who should be at United.”

“Well, except for me. I would like to coach. If they called me, I would go; I would enjoy it. They know where I am. Then we would play creative football once again.”

Eric Cantona harkened back to his time at the club, 1992-1997, when he won four Premier League titles and nine trophies. He hopes the club can get back to playing that entertaining, swash-buckling style of football that they once displayed under Sir Alex.

“It would be great for the fans, like it was with Alex Ferguson — he allowed players to be creative, treated them as individuals,” he continued.

“We all felt special with him. All felt loved. He was always praising. A good man. A good leader.”
