David de Gea Has Poor Outing, Low Match Rating, Slammed in Media

As much as Arsenal tries to hand the last UCL qualification slot in the top four to Manchester United, the Red Devils just refuse to take it. Today saw United lose the Manchester derby 2-0 (in what really conveyed an obvious dispartity in total quality between the two sides) and this time, the scapegoat was a very unlikely figure- goalkeeper David De Gea.

The Spaniard, who has been United’s player of the year in three of the last four seasons, has been off lately, and overall seems to be having an only just average season. Today though, may have been his nadir, as he earned plenty of 4/10 individual ratings from media outlets covering this game.

He made saves from Bernardo and Raheem Sterling, but he also made two terrible mistakes on City’s two goals, especially so with Leroy Sane’s finish that went right through him; something we’re not used to seeing from him, at all. What’s wrong with United’s goalie this season?

Does he want out?

There is something wrong with De Gea this year.

De Gea is taking a beating right now from media pundits and users on social media alike. Here is a small collection of some of the more colorful tweets as he’s currently a top trending term, but not for the reasons he or any United fan would like.

Can’t go wrong with a Simpsons reference:

I really never thought it'd be De Gea's face I'd be putting on this meme. pic.twitter.com/8tGVUjop1N

Very true:

Can’t argue with that:

"You cannot believe how bad David de Gea has been in recent weeks" – @RobbieSavage8
