Reports claim Chelsea, not Man United to sign Pedro now

The media coverage of the Pedro “will he or won’t he?” transfer situation has been mildly entertaining. The public presentation of information surrounding his future has certainly not been painful and/or annoying like the Angel Di Maria to Paris St. Germain transfer. Nor has it reached the levels of over-extended tedium that’s been the David de Gea situation.

It looks like the Pedro narrative will not reach Di Maria or De Gea repetitive overkill as multiple outlets claim Pedro to Chelsea is now done.

Some publications claim he’s on his way to London to finalize a deal; others say he already has a medical scheduled. Such is the nature of the transfer rumor beast. Things can change just like that; and what seems like huge breaking news can appear to be nothing but jumping the gun in mere hours.

Players often make abrupt changes of heart.

Just yesterday FOX Sports and Sky Sports said that Pedro to United had been agreed upon. They said an agreement was in place, and just the monetary consideration needed to be figured out. This report was made based on the strength of an incredibly well respected, extremely credible and well known journalist Guillem Bague who told Revista de La Liga:

“Ed Woodward, the Manchester United chief executive, has been in Barcelona today, speaking to the club and the word is that a deal will be done this week one way or another.”

“I understand a deal between the player and United is already in place and all that is left is for United to put the 30m euros on the table. They are just negotiating how they are going to pay it, with installments or an amount up-front.

“They are very close. I’m not sure whether Barcelona will try one last time with Pedro and say “don’t go”, but it seems his mind is already made up.”

Today, FOX is going with this report, based off Goal UK

“Pedro traveled to London on Wednesday morning to hold talks with Chelsea ahead of a 30 million euros ($33.1m) move, and personal terms are not expected to be an obstacle to completing the deal.”

The BBC are going with this:

“Chelsea have agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign winger Pedro for a fee of £21 million. The 28-year-old, who was a target for Manchester United, is flying to London to finalise terms on the transfer.”

Looks like United refused to meet’s Barca’s asking price, Chelsea did, and now Pedro is on his way to Stamford Bridge.
