It is expected that Chelsea FC will soon announce a one year extension for striker Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman, who came over from Arsenal in January of 2018 on an 18 month deal plus a one year club option to extend, will now see that extension realized according to the London Evening Standard.

Giroud, who will never see consistent first team football as long as Gonzalo Higuain is there above him on the depth chart, has complained about not being the first choice centre-forward for Premier League play.

If you were going to do some sports betting nz on the transfer market, then you might have thought that his discontent with this situation would force a move, but according to reports, he’ll stay in west London for one more year. He would have had options too, as the Standard reports: “Nice, Marseille, Bordeaux and Lyon have all expressed an interest in the 32-year-old, but Chelsea appear to have convinced him to stay.”

Giroud is the club’s leading scorer in Europa League competition this season though, netting 10 times thus far with the final coming up in nine days. If you’re going to do some online betting australia on the UEL final, then you might want to back Giroud to score.

With Stamford Bridge having been hit by a two window transfer ban, they really can’t afford to be losing anybody right now. The ban is under appeal, but the process is slow and the west London side might, given how things turn out on this front, be in for some lean times ahead.
