In the past week or so it finally became an exciting summer transfer window at Chelsea. Who will be the next to join manager Maurizio Sarri and midfielder Jorginho as new arrivals this summer?
Who will be heading out the Stamford Bridge exit door? Let’s take a spin through the latest transfer rumors and gossip making the rounds on the internet today. As always, until it’s actually an officially done deal, take the rumors with a grain of salt.
There had been numerous reports earlier this month claiming Chelsea and Real Madrid had agreed upon a fee for the transfer of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but the Belgian still remains a member of the Blues.
What’s keeping this deal from getting done is that the sale is reportedly contingent upon Stamford Bridge securing an adequate replacement, and that just doesn’t seem to be happening right now.
According to a late Monday Sky Sports report, negotiations have broken down. With just nine days left until the transfer window closes, it’s looking likelier and likelier that 2018 World Cup Golden Glove winner stays, and Chelsea wins another transfer market stand-off with Real Madrid, just like they did regarding Eden Hazard.
The main Courtois replacements were rumored to be Leicester City/Denmark standout Kasper Schmeichel and Everton/England star Jordan Pickford.
Elsewhere, although it is quite unlikely, Olivier Giroud could be on the move again, according to the Daily Mail. The striker who changed London clubs in January has reportedly been in talks with Marseille about a potential move, as the Ligue 1 side has seen their prospects of acquiring Mario Balotelli stall out.
Although the prospect of going back to his native country is obviously appealing to Giroud, he might actually prefer the opportunity to stay and become the first choice striker in west London in the new Maurizio Sarri regime.
-Youngster Matt Miazga looks set to go out on loan again, but this time he would get his chance to make his mark in a big five league with Caen of Ligue 1.
Get French Football News and independent journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter reported Caen’s interest, stating that Miazga would be in France to undergo his medical on Tuesday.
Miazga, an American international, spent the last two seasons on loan with Vitesse of the Eredivisie.
In keeping with the American theme, Chelsea are the latest big six club to be linked with wonder boy Christian Pulisic. According to The Mirror, Chelsea have even held discussions with the Borussia Dortmund winger and his representation.
BVB maintain that he is not for sale though, just like they have reportedly had to tell Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has publicly stated an interest in reuniting with his former player, who may be on the move in 2019, as contract extension talks with Dortmund have broken down. Pulisic is rated so high that he could command a transfer fee in the £60 million range.
