It’s July 1st, which means happy summer transfer window is OFFICIALLY open day! This is the day when the ink officially gets dried, the Ts crossed and the Is dotted on all the summer deals. The window is now open for business, and Chelsea Football Club officially welcomed their first new player today in goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
Willy Caballero will be the new back-up to Thibaut Courtois, as Asmir Begovic is now off to Bournemouth.
The Argentine, who was released by Manchester City after his contract expired is understood to have passed a medical in mid June.

‘I am very happy to join Chelsea, the champions of England,” Caballero said in a statement on the club website. “I am looking forward to meeting the guys and helping the club achieve more success in the coming season.”
Michael Emenalo added: ‘We are very happy to have Willy on board. He knows the Premier League and is tried and tested at the top of the game. We have three experienced goalkeepers and we look forward to welcoming him to the club when the squad returns to pre-season training.’
A reserve goalkeeper signing might not be the most earth-shattering of transfer news, but it’s only the appetizer to what should be a feast of transfer additions at Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Blues could be adding as many as six new players this summer, with transfer narratives linking the west London club to: Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger, Alex Sandro and Romelu Lukaku.
