As Bakayoko and Hazard Heal, Chelsea Look to Add More Players

The first chapter in the book of the Chelsea Premie League title defense was a horror story. The opening fixture went about as disastrous as possible, and it’s clear that manager Antonio Conte needs to make some changes, otherwise he could be facing the sack down the line. Stamford Bridge is a big money club, and they can still splash the cash between now and the 16 days left before the transfer window closes.

Thus enter the tabloid transfer rumors and The Daily Mirror reports the Blues are in pursuit for three Premier League regulars: with Arsena’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater and Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk.

All three would fit in well in Antonio Conte‘s system. The Blues really need depth, as 1.) they’ve sent too many players out on loan, and now posses a smaller roster. 2.) They’re going to need to beef up in order to handle the additional workload of playing in Europe this season.

In addition to any potential improvements made from acquiring outside the club, Chelsea should make a pretty big jump in form during week two due to in house improvements. Eden Hazard, arguably the team’s player, resumed training this week. Likewise for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Although both are not expected to be match fit in time for the Tottenham Hotspur clash next weekend, social media is filling up with snaps of the duo on road to their return.
