Arsenal FC star Alexis Sanchez made an Instagram page for his dogs, Atom and Humber, and the results were predictably adorable. So adorable that the dogs were honored by Gunners supporters with their very own banner at the Emirates this weekend.
REDaction Gooners, a group of fans “who work to improve the atmosphere in the stadium,” debuted the banner Sunday, and although the match saw Sanchez score a game winning goal in extra time (98′ for a 2-1 win over Burnley), the endeavor was widely derided by football fans.

The Telegraph has more reaction, including one Tweeter who called this “beyond embarrassing.”
Hey, freedom of speech to all, but I just don’t get the backlash and vitriol. I love animals, and volunteer at an animal shelter. Thus, I just can’t understand why anyone would sling such verbal arrows at this project.
Anyway Alexis Sanchez is not the only star global football player highly involved with caring for precious dogs.
USWNT forward Christen Press was featured, along with her rescue puppies, in a new PETA ad the night before the USA was eliminated by Sweden in the Olympics on penalty kicks. Press missed her pen very very badly, and her attempt was the last chance for the U.S.
American fans responded to the loss with #DogsForChristen on Twitter. The hashtag was top ten trending worldwide that weekend and you can look at some of those dog pics here at this link.
