Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is recovering very very slowly from the fractured fibula he suffered in the preseason. He had surgery in September, and initially we heard the timeline for his recovery was three months.
So much for that. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has now admitted that there is no chance of Jack Wilshere returning before February.
“I said February but honestly I don’t know. “I let him do his recovery. It’s going slowly,” Wenger said.
“Once he goes again, goes outside to train, once he is back again into sharp, hard work physically, you count five or six weeks, so at the moment he is not there yet.”
“(Wilshere) will not be back before February, that’s for sure. It’s not Jack’s fault we lost at Southampton and anyway he cannot play against Bournemouth,” he continued.
“We have short-term worries and we want to respond. You say you question us, and I agree that when you lose a game like that it’s normal you get questioned. But the answer we can give is the next performance.”
In other words, no one has any idea when Jack Wilshere will return to action.
Arsenal had just established themselves as the new Premier League title favorite this week. All the bookmakers ascribed Arsene Wenger’s side the best title odds. So what happens? They went out and got destroyed 4-0 by Southampton today in a result that could have easily been 5-0 or 6-0.
