Alexandre Lacazette Wary of Possible Arsenal Overhaul Post Arsene Wenger Exit

Ahead of today’s massive Premier League fixture at Manchester United, Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette expressed his concerns that he and his teammates could be playing for their futures. Lacazette says that he, and his teammates need to stay focused on being their best because a feeling of uncertainty surrounds the club as long time manager Arsene Wenger steps down at the end of the season.

When the new manager arrives, replacing the Frenchman who has been in charge for 22 years, a roster overhaul could soon follow.

“We want to keep going and be good because we know that a new manager is coming,” Lacazette told Sky Sports. “Maybe everything will change. We don’t know if everyone can stay in the club.”

Lacazette arrived from Lyon last summer for a then club record £46.5 million fee, which was then surpassed by the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang acquisition in January. Lacazette, who signed a  five-year deal with the Emirates, has had a really nice scoring touch lately, with seven goals in his last seven games since he returned from six weeks off due to injury.

As for Wenger, he said this week in a news conference that he is unsure of his next move right now. The 68-year-old told Sky that he will wait about four or five weeks before he decides what to do next.

“Once I’ve finished honestly I don’t know. I have decided to take a little distance for four or five weeks before I make a decision,” Wenger said.

“I need to move away a little bit to take perspective on my situation and analyze it in the most objective way possible, even if it is not easy. I will then decide where I go from there.”
