The injury and rehabilitation saga for Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla continues to carry on. Today brought another development that restarts the return clock yet again. Cazorla posted on Twitter today that he had to have another surgery to repair a tendon in his foot. This will be ninth surgical procedure.

Cazorla had targeted a return in January, but you can definitely scrap that plan now, as this development delays his convalescence and return to action even more.

“Due to some discomfort that I had in my tendon in the last few days, I’ve had to undergo surgery. I will have to delay my return to the pitch,” Santi Cazorla wrote.

Cazorla maintains that he will get back on the pitch someday, as he has been out of action for over a year. The 32-year-old Spanish international has scored 25 goals in 120 appearances for the club.

“I maintain my enthusiasm and motivation to be able to again enjoy my great passion, which is football.”

“It is the worst injury I have known, starting with a little pain in the Achilles and it has gone from worse to worse,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said earlier this month.

“I know how much Santi Cazorla loves to play football and loves to be out there every day and I feel really sorry for what happened to him because it is unbelievable.”
