With the Stadium under renovation, Notre Dame football has relocated their annual intra-squad spring game to LaBar practice fields. What we do know is that there will be an intra-squad, Blue and Gold game. It will be on April 18th. More details are coming into focus now, but there are still plenty of details to be worked out.
Brian Kelly appeared at the opening of the Under Armour brand house on Michigan Avenue in Chicago last night, and spoke with the media members for a few minutes. Notre Dame is of course is a UA school now and a handful of Athletic Department members, including Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick made the trip.
Kelly wore the same famous blazer that he’s pictured in here.
“We’ve got it down to two bidders (for the temporary seating), and it’s going to be somewhere in that 2,500 range relative to attendance,” said Kelly.
“We’re in the process of figuring out how we’re going to do that, whether it will be season ticket holders who get the first shot at tickets, or whether it’s going to be a combination of students, alumni, we’re trying to figure that out, but that’s essentially what it’s going to be.”
Last year’s contest (held at the stadium) drew 27,000. So this year’s Notre Dame football spring game will be a much more intimate affair. It was previously thought, following the Notre Dame football press conference on Monday to introduce the coaching staff, that the blue/gold game would be invitation only. That is no longer true. There will be a chance for the general public to obtain tickets.
“There will be a piece there where it’ll cut across all lines, for admissions to the game,” he said.
We don’t know yet if NBC, or a different provider, will be televising the Notre Dame football ‘s spring game.
“I think television is probably going to work out for the game, but nothing is set in stone, so I’d be surprised if we don’t work something out with that.”
Also, Kelly gave us his thoughts on an earlier national signing day; so go here to read up on that.
