Brady Quinn didn’t have the greatest NFL career, but his punditry career seems to be off to a good start. Yes, he’s displaying a bit of Notre Dame homerism with his college football playoff picks, but it’s certainly nothing like the delusional dreck we got use to hearing from Lou Holtz on ESPN’s College Game night Final.
Brady Quinn discussed the high hopes surrounding his alma mater this season:
“There’s a lot of optimism around this team, in part because they’re so talented,” Quinn said.
“To be honest with you, I don’t think they’ve had this much talent on a team in two decades. It’s been a long time since they’ve had this much talk about future draft prospects like Nick Martin, Sheldon Day, Ronnie Stanley and Jaylon Smith. These are legitimate guys who could go in the first round.”
“You’ve watched the film on Jaylon Smith, you see him fill the holes in the run game,” Quinn articulated on ND’s star linebacker.
“It’s like watching the NFL, with his ability to anticipate, he doesn’t waste any steps, he’s very efficient with his footwork, and he’s got this power and explosion.”
Like I said, Quinn’s punditry is pretty solid when it comes to individual player scouting. You read that with his breakdown of Jaylon Smith. Go here for his in-depth scouting report of Day, Stanley and Martin.
