We know Ann Arbor is a place where basketball season doesn’t typically start until Mid-February. It’s the opposite in places like Champaign and Bloomington; basketball season begins in October there. However, when you look at how talented Caris LeVert is, it’s something that’s worth more attention.
Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.ย LeVert, who had surgery on the same foot in May, will have surgery again this week. He suffered a left foot injury versus Northwestern, and he’ll miss the rest of the season.
Caris LeVert has started the past 55 games for Michigan and was the Wolverines’ leading scorer at 14.9 points per game. The versatile wing was also averaging 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
Before the injury, here’s where we had him in our latest mock.ย
15. Caris LeVert, SG, Michigan, 6-6, JR.
The athletic sophomore made huge strides with his all-around game but still needs to add weight to his thin frame.
The Sports Bank had an exclusive with Caris LeVert and the podcast is below:
Unless Michigan can get a “Ewing Theory” going, their season is now over. That’s a shame because they were starting to make a comeback too. Michigan has started 5-2 in the Big Ten, which is pretty impressive when you consider their AWFUL and I mean AWFUL non-conference showing.
Losses to NJIT and Eastern Michigan are horrible deadweight on their NCAA Tournament profile, but they were digging themselves out of the hole. With a RPI of 69 and a SOS of 43, they could have made a tourney run had they kept winning in the league.
Not probably going to happen as they’ll be missing Caris Levert now
