From the Northwestern Sports Information Department press kit:
“Not only is Tyrell Sutton, a 2008 Doak Walker and Maxwell Awards candidate, one healthy season away from a possible NU career rushing title, but he is also in line to become the Wildcats’ all-time leader in all-purpose yardage.
After Saturday’s strong season-opening performance he recorded his 13th career 100-yard rushing performance—Sutton is third in all-time rushing with 3,140 yards (1,345 yards shy of NU’s career mark) and third in career all-purpose yardage with 4,128 yards. He is just 1,143 yards shy of passing Damien Anderson on NU’s allpurpose list.
Sutton is recognized as one of the nation’s top receivers, if not the top, out of the backfield. He, in fact, leads all running
backs nationally in catches per game (3.7) and receiving yards per game (30.6). With 118 career catches, he is closing in on
NU’s top-10 list for all-time receptions. (He needs four more receptions to move into the top-10 list.) Sutton also needs just 20 receiving yards to become just the second player in NU history to record 1,000 career yards rushing and 1,000 career receiving yards.”Â
