NU’s least valuable player transferring out
During the Big Ten regular season, I often asked other journalists, if you had to play a 2 on 2 game to save your own life, who would not take as your partner, Iowa’s John Lickliter (yes, the 5’7″ coach’s kid) Or Northwestern’s Kyle Rowley, the 7 footer who can’t rebound, with a go-to post move of a bizarre stick shot which crudely resembles a shot putter that needs to be cut from the junior varsity track and field team. But alas, we will not be able to watch those stick shots fall way short from three feet outside the rim anymore…..
…talk about addition by subtraction! Wildcats are looking much better for 2010-11 now!
EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern head men’s basketball coach Bill Carmody has announced that sophomore Kyle Rowley has decided to transfer from the Wildcats’ program and pursue playing opportunities at another institution.
“Kyle has chosen to seek another program where he can receive more playing time,” Carmody said. “We wish Kyle nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
A native of Arima, Trinidad, Rowley appeared in 61 out of a possible 65 games over his two seasons in a Wildcat uniform, including making 33 starts. The 7-foot center posted averages of 2.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 11.2 minutes per contest in his Northwestern career. Rowley made 28 starts and averaged 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game as a freshman. He saw action in 30 of the team’s 34 games this past season, including making five starts, and posted norms of 2.0 points and 2.3 boards.
