#33 NC State Wolfpack: College Football 77 in 77

NC-STATE

NC State Wolfpack quarterback Mike Glennon could leave his mark on the program. Other than Phillip Rivers or Russell Wilson, no one has put up some of the numbers that Glennon has. And it could seriously augment his NFL Draft stock. At 6’6″ NFL scouts will be checking him out.

Now if only the Wolfpack could develop a running game to go with their passing attack; then they could be ACC title game bound.

2011 was: another solid year, another bowl appearance. A 2-3 start eventually yielded an 8-5 campaign that included a second bowl win. They picked off 27 passes most in the FBS and had 39 takeaways, second most in college football. Will probably be difficult to duplicate that.

2012 will go smoothly if: they stay healthy. With 7 returning starters on each side of the ball, they have enough hands on deck. The entire starting secondary returns in tact. The DL rotation should go ten deep, but there’s no pass rushing specialist.

2012 will be rough if:The OL doesn’t make a revolutionary change in the run blocking department. The Pack were an awful 109th in rushing offense last season.  All three LB will be replaced too. That’s a bunch of question marks.

BMOC: Glennon, WR Tobais Palmer, DE Art Norman, Safeties Earl Wolff, Brandan Bishop

All Name team: RT Rob Crisp, FB Logan Winkles, DT K’Hadree Hooker

Bottom Line: They should be better than .500 as 7-8 wins certainly looks likely. If they really get it together 10 wins is possible as State as won 17 games over the past two years. But only if they get a lot of rushing yards out of Tony Creecy and/or James Washington.

Rankings:

Lindy’s- 28, Athlon- 28, Phil Steele- 44
