Manchester United Transfer Talk: Ndombele, McGinn, Ben Yedder

We’re still waiting for all that hype that entered this summer transfer window at Manchester United to be realized, but hey at least two players have actually been signed.

Hopefully, there will be more signings to talk about between now and when the season starts. Training camp opens up today, so with that mind here are some of the top trending transfer narratives in the Manchester United online community on this Monday.

summer transfer window

We start with a relatively new transfer rumor this summer- Sevilla star Wissam Ben Yedder has agreed to personal terms to join United, claims the Express. If this is to actually happen, it’s probably contingent on the sale of Romelu Lukaku, who has been strongly linked to Inter Milan.

Lukaku leaving would free up both money and a slot in the attacking position group. However, it doesn’t really seem likely that the Lukaku transfer will happen, and thus, doubtful the Ben Yedder thing gets realized either.

Moving on, we saw plenty of claims last week that Tottenham Hotspur has completed a £65 million deal for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Later in the week, we learned that those reports actually jumped the gun considerably.

And with that has emerged the transfer narrative indicating that United could now swoop in and hijack the deal.

It’s reminiscent of the deal involving the player we just mentioned in the previous item.

You might recall Chelsea, then under Antonio Conte, strongly pursuing Lukaku, having a deal almost in place, and then United came in at the last minute and scooped him up. Chelsea then had to settle for Alvaro Morata.

Could history repeat? Here’s the latest via TalkSPORT (h/t to a French outlet):

L’Equipe say that personal terms have yet to be finalised between Tottenham and Ndombele himself, leaving the door open for the Red Devils.

Finally, another name being strongly linked to United now is Scotland and Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, with a potential deal being worth £50 million.

Here’s more via BBC Sport Scotland.
