Pep Guardiola to Golf During Potentially Title Clinching Man United Match

Manchester City can win the Premier League title today if second place Manchester United men lose to last place West Bromwich Albion. (The match is currently goalless at half time).

When asked if he will have his eyes on the score of the United-West Brom game, City manager Pep Guardiola responded with the following after City beat Tottenham 3-1 yesterday:

“I have a golf game with my son — bogey, double bogey, birdie. We will see. Football is unpredictable but normally United will beat West Brom. It doesn’t matter.”

In other words, he’s not going to be too fixated on scoreboard watching this Sunday (You know he’ll receive plenty of text messages with the final score sent to him anyway). Guardiola knows that the league title will inevitably belong to his side, and should United draw or win today, the next title clinching scenarios would occur on Wednesday, and they are as follows:

-If United are beaten by Bournemouth

-Any combination of United earning four points or fewer from the results of today and Wednesday’s matches

If United are still alive in the title race after today and Wednesday, then Guardiola and his men can officially claim the silverware  with a win over Swansea City next Sunday. Thus, you can see why the Catalan is so relaxed about all this today.
