Chelsea Striker Alvaro Morata is adapting very well to the English Premier League, says his Manager Antonio Conte and really who can argue against that statement.
Morata, who broke the club record for a transfer fee when he moved over from Real Madrid this summer, scored his first ever hat trick with the Blues as they routed Stoke City 4-0 this past weekend. Morata said after the game that the defending champs’ performance sent a good message to the rest of the league.
He now has six goals in his first six Premier League matches, as Chelsea are looking in fine form recently. On the pitch, Alvaro Morata has been dominant, off the pitch he (as well as the club communications department and Conte) thanked supporters for changing the words to an offensive song about the high scoring forward.
The song praises Morata, but it also contains Anti-Semitic slurs directed at rival club Tottenham Hotspur. However, this past weekend the supporters singing this song adhered to the club, the manager and the player’s wishes, and got rid of the hateful prose.
On the same weekend, Morata raised his game up, and his boss took notice.
“Now he is involved totally in our style of football and our idea and he is very strong,” Conte said. “You can see that today [he took] a lot of good contact and tackles and I think he’s showing that he’s a really good, complete player.”
“This league is not easy, above all for the strikers because during the game there is a lot of physical contact, and you must be prepared for this type of game because referees don’t whistle a lot and that’s good for the game.”
Conte still sees room for Alvaro Morata to grow however.
“He adapted very well to this league but now he has to continue to work and improve because I think he has only just started his path.”
