It’s easy to understand why Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho has been so critical of the summer transfer market in 2017. He wanted to acquire four players this summer transfer window, then later said he’d settle for three. He’s been stuck on two now for almost close to a month, with no real signs of that changing in the coming days.
Inter Milan attacking player Ivan Perisic has been heavily linked to United this summer, but the Italian club has taken playing hard ball to the next level and chances of getting a deal done seem to be decreasing in likelihood.
Perisic started and scored the game winning in Inter’s 2-1 exhibition friendly triumph over Chelsea in the International Champions Cup tournament.
Inter boss Luciano Spaletti took a hard line in his public commentary as well.
“There has been no more significant contact [from outside clubs] in the last few weeks [regarding Perisic],” he told Internazionale’s official website. “So for me the conversation is over. The more days that go by, the more difficult it becomes for us to replace him and therefore I would strongly oppose his departure.”
Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to acquire a both a holding midfielder, and a winger/attacking midfielder/forward player this summer. It looks like he’ll have to look elsewhere other than Ivan Perisic to obtain the latter.
