It was originally thought that Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur’s big time scorer and franchise cornerstone, could be out for up to two months. He was taken off on a stretcher a week ago, and was later seen on crutches; wearing a protective boot. He suffered an injured ankle, according to Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, and fears of ligament damage arose.

This could not confirmed/de-confirmed until the results of a second scan were known. The first scan showed that Kane did not suffer a broken bone. So that was good news. Then we heard even more encouraging developments.

The second scan yielded news that was even more encouraging, as we learned Harry Kane would return much sooner than expected.

And although Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino would not give a definitive timeline, it was apparent that he would return substantially sooner than that.

It could come Sunday versus Arsenal in the North London Derby

“Sunday? Maybe, maybe,” said Pochettino regarding Kane’s fitness.

However, the England international will not feature against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday, according to the BBC.

“Tomorrow, no, not on the bench,” added the Argentine.

“It’s good because you can see him today warming up with the team to be involved in some exercises. But no, for tomorrow he is not ready.”

So there you go, an emotional derby match now gets another additional riveting storyline with the potential addition of Harry Kane. Although Spurs were without their franchise player Kane for several important key fixtures, they still remain in striking distance of first place. They are only three points off the top of the table.
