Rightfully or wrongly, Tom Cleverley was a scapegoat all season long for Manchester United fans. Tom Cleverley took so much abuse from United fans online that he actually had to shut down his Twitter feed. There was a petition to get Cleverley removed from United. You can look at it here. Then came a petition to get Cleverley off the England National Team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
And now Arsenal fans, worried that Arsene Wenger might sign Cleverley, or include him in the approaching deal for Thomas Vermaelen, are voicing their disgust.
The Daily Express reports emerge today that the Gunners were planning on making a move for the embattled midfielder as Thomas Vermaelen inches out the door and closer to Old Trafford. Other reports say Nani is in, not Tom Cleverly will be the player included in the deal for Cleverley. Thomas Vermaelen has agreed a deal in principle to join Manchester United this summer, claims the Telegraph.
Arsenal fans are not happy with the Cleverley idea, urging Wenger not to do it through social media. (Daily Express has a few great examples)
