Fearless NBA Finals, Kevin Love, Cavaliers predictions

Kevin Love

Is Kevin Love going to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers?

What are we to make of the fact that he’s not present on the bench during games? Does that mean he’s not long for the Cavs world?

What can the Cavs get for Love?

Another critical year for Cleveland Browns QB position

Johnny Manziel brian hoyer

Brady Quinn. Brandon Weeden. Johnny Manziel. Drafting, and then re-drafting hopefully and potentially franchise QBs is what the Cleveland Browns do. What’s going to happen with Manziel? Is he going to buck the trend?

Or are we going to be talking about the Brownies drafting Connor Cook or Christian Hackenberg next year?

As Blackhawks succeed, Blackhawks Twitter degenerates

Chicago Blackhawks-2014-stanley-cup

I sincerely hope the Chicago Blackhawks win Game 7 in Anaheim Saturday night; and then go on win the Stanley Cup Final. I am rooting FOR the team. What I am rooting AGAINST is Chicago Blackhawks Playoffs Twitter; in all its forms.

I want the Blackhawks to win it all. I want Blackhawks Playoffs Twitter to die; quickly.

Before we get to making fun of people/stuff, I should point out that there are plenty of great accounts to follow during Blackhawks games.

Ex-Notre Dame star Prince Shembo arrested for killing girlfriend’s dog

It wasn’t until the NFL Draft interview process that former Notre Dame linebacker Prince Shembo was publicly outed as the alleged perpetrator in the Lizzy Seeberg sexual assault case. As Shembo was never charged with any crime in connection to Seeberg’s alleged sexual assault and subsequent suicide, it was illegal to name him as a suspect in the case.

Outing Prince Shembo at that time would be the very definition of libel, even though every single person with a vested interest or connection to Notre Dame football knew that Shembo was the supposed player in question.

It was the worst kept secret in college football. Just ask Google. Go research Prince Shembo auto completes in search engines and see what happens.

Campaign to keep Fred Hoiberg at Iowa St. raises only $20

Fred Hoiberg Iowa State

Is Fred Hoiberg leaving Iowa State to become the next Chicago Bulls Head Coach? Does a bear defecate the woods?

The Bulls desire to dismiss Tom Thibodeau was the worst kept secret of the 2014-15 NBA season. The rift between Thibs and the front office was been common knowledge for years. The Bulls “coaching search” is done. It’s one name long, and we’ve all known it since February.

Fred Hoiberg favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

tom thibodeau chicago bulls

Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg is the favorite to be Tom Thibodeau’s replacement, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein. Hoiberg has been rumored to Chicago for a very long time and was recently quoted as stating that his dream is to coach in the NBA.

If Hoiberg doesn’t happen, and there’s no reason to believe it shouldn’t, then the replacement for Thibs is likely to be former Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin.

Cubs should NOT promote Javier Baez before September

Since starting the season at AAA Iowa following an extended bereavement absence, Chicago Cubs’ prospect 2B/SS Javier Baez is exhibiting a more patient and cerebral batting approach that augurs well for his future.  This improvement is a welcome development following a disastrous late-season stint with the Cubs.

#6 Illini Baseball: FINALLY a POSITIVE Illinois Athletics story

2015-mlb-mock-draft tyler jay

During the past few years, almost all Illinois Fighting Illini sports fans have become frustrated fans. Perhaps the Twitter account @Frustrated_Fan is the best synopsis of what being an Illini fan is like these days. I suggest you follow it because you’ll find more Illini sports truth in that Twitter feed than you will from most Illini press conferences.

It’s witty and tells it like it is. Unfortunately for Illini fans the “is” is pretty brutal since Athletic Director Mike Thomas took over in 2011. However, there is one “is” that IS GREAT though- Illini baseball.

(Apologies for the Bill Clintonian overuse of the word “is”)

Press releases about TV Ratings, Awards…instantly deleted

I’m not writing this post to be snarky, or to be mean. I’m doing it to try and help the news industry advance. I’m doing it because this needs to be said, and no one else seems to want to say it. In the words of Jimmy Buffett, “someone’s got to raise some hell it might as well be me.”

Sports teams, schools, college sports associations, and most importantly sports television networks, listen up now, because I’m about to give you some advice that if followed, will help out everyone. We are here to promote your network/team/league, but you’ve got to give us something news-worthy in your press releases in order to do so.
