Yesterday, Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel returned to the practice field for the first time since his release from rehab. Manziel took part in Cleveland’s first practice within the third phase of the team’s offseason organized

team activities, taking second team reps behind starter Josh McCown. Johnny Football is without a doubt one of the NFL players with the most to prove this autumn. Check it out the top players for 2015 season for your NFL Odds who have the most to prove this season. Players on this list include New York Jets QB Geno Smith, Miami Dolphins NT Ndamukong Suh and Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning.

Although he did not speak with reporters, this is the first time Manziel has been in front of cameras (at least while on the job) since his 10 week stint at Caron Addiction Treatment Center in Pennsylvania. Manziel underwent treatment for an unspecified issue before being discharged on April 10th.

According to Fox Sports, the former Heisman Trophy winner recently moved out of his downtown apartment to a golf community on Cleveland’s west side. But while Manziel hasn’t spoken to reporters since the end of his rough rookie season, in which he played extremely poorly in two starts, he has kept a public profile by attending several Cleveland Cavaliers NBA playoff games.

Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine and several of Manziel’s teammates have praised the iconic star’s commitment and dedication to perfecting his craft.

“He seems to be a little bit more focused now, but he knows its something that he’s going to have to prove it everyday,” said Pettine.

The Browns will open camp with Manziel as Cleveland’s No. 2 quarterback, and that’s very disappointing considering how much hype and ballyhoo accompanied Manziel upon his entrance to the league. If he doesn’t develop this year, than Johnny’s drafting will end up looking like a huge mistake by the Browns, and his career will go down as a tremendous flash-in-the-pan. He’ll be just a small footnote to football history instead of making football history. Manziel needs to show us that he’s grown up, both on and off the field, in order to avoid being relegated to the “great college player, couldn’t cut in the pros” bin of gridiron lore.

In order to get there, Manziel needs to stay clean and sober off the field. In regards to reaching that goal, he’s getting a big hand from the face of Cleveland, LeBron James.

Maverick Carter, James’ business partner and bosom buddy, is doing his part to help. It’s not just out of humanitarianism though, Carter has business interests in Manziel’s success; his management firm (LRMR) signed Manziel shortly after he left Texas A&M early to enter the NFL Draft.
