From Brooke Baldwin/CNN Newsroom: Steak Shapiro, one of the fired morning show hosts of Atlanta sports radio station 790 the Zone spoke with CNN’s Brooke Baldwin about his firing.
Yes, Steak Shapiro is an actual person, not the name of a specially prepared dinner entree. He did acknowledge the poor taste of his joke mocking former New Orleans Saint player Steve Gleason, who has Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Shapiro instantly knew what he did wasn’t funny; and soon after, he learned just how insensitive and horrific his comments were too.
Shapiro does have a confessional here on Brooke Baldwin.
Before we get to Shapiro sitting down with Baldwin, Sara Ganim, formerly of the Harrisburg Patriot-News, gives us the backstory. She got a Pulitzer and a new gig at CNN for her reporting work on the Penn State. She also got her fair share of death threats for covering Jerry Sandusky, Joe Paterno, child rape in State College etc.
Steak Shapiro wasn’t pandering to Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints rivalry meatheads in what he did. He loves the city of New Orleans, he has a daughter named Nola. He said a lot of things on Brooke Baldwin show that makes you realize he truly knows how stupid, disgusting and insensitive his remarks were.
