Brian Kelly may not be winning as many games as some of the Notre Dame faithful want him to, but he is winning the recruiting battles. They got the 13th member of their class, Jaylon Smith, from just up the road in Ft. Wayne. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker is a five-star recruit, according to Rivals.com.

He is also ranked as the No. 1 outside linebacker and No. 4 overall prospect by Rivals.com.

From Irish Sports Daily:

On Saturday, the Irish picked up the verbal commitment of five-star outside linebacker Jaylon Smith of Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne, who made the announcement at the RAS Camp in Angola, Ind.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect chose Notre Dame over offers from Ohio State, Purdue, Indiana, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC among others.
