It took a sweep by the Detroit Tigers to knock the Chicago White Sox out of first place; and that’s exactly what happened. Justin Verlander won the highly anticipated match-up with Chris Sale, and the three game sweep restarts the AL Central race back at zero. Earlier in the season the Sox gave up first place to Detroit, but it was only for a day or two, as Chicago took it right back.
The Sox will get the Tigers back at home on Sep 10-13th in a chance for revenge/put some distance between them and the Tigers. The main problem is the Tigers hold a 10-4 season advantage between the two clubs.
