Big Ten’s Leading Receiver, Purdue’s Keith Smith, Out for Season

In Purdue’s victory over the mighty Leathernecks of Western Illinois, the Boilermakers suffered a HUGE loss. Fifth-year wide receiver Keith Smith, who led the Big Ten in receiving last year, will miss the remainder of the season after suffering torn medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments in the fourth quarter of Purdue’s 31-21 win over WIU on Saturday.

The tears were confirmed by MRI on Tuesday.

Also confirmed were the tears in the eyes of many Boiler fans after hearing this tragic news. Their 2010 season is now in dire straits.

The Boilermakers (1-1) will host Ball State (1-1) at Ross-Ade Stadium this Saturday at noon eastern.
