Meh. … [Read more...] about MLB Playoffs are on? I’ll pass…

Matt Kemp and Josh Hamilton

It’s still “early” in baseball terms, but Josh Hamilton and Matt Kemp have done nothing but put on shows. Their superb play has gotten more attention than Philip Humber’s perfect game. Hamilton and Kemp are going for the Triple Crown in their respective leagues. The Triple Crown is revered, by many, to be the greatest single-season accomplishment in all of baseball. … [Read more...] about Josh Hamilton and Matt Kemp Are Threats For The Triple Crown

Bob Geren and the Oakland Athletics Bullpen

May 25, 2011 By paulmbanks

The Oakland A’s are 23-26, losers of 6 of their last 7 and in last place in the AL West. On top of all of that, there is turmoil in the bullpen. Recent comments by closer (at least while Andrew Bailey is hurt) Brian Fuentes strongly criticized Manager Bob Geren for his handling of the relief corps. Fuentes complained about being brought into a game in the 8th inning and … [Read more...] about Bob Geren and the Oakland Athletics Bullpen

oakland-a's-manager

The Oakland Athletics started this month right near the top of the AL West race. It was thought that the “Moneyball” franchise could actually be adding pieces as the trading deadline approached in 2010. But instead, they now find themselves in free-fall. The A's lost for the tenth time in 12 games Wednesday night, and fell to a season-low six games under .500. They now trail … [Read more...] about Oakland fading out of the AL West picture

Will Coco Crisp be Sweet and Fulfilling for Oakland this Season?

June 24, 2010 By paulmbanks

The Oakland Athletics entered June in the thick of the AL West race. But as the month winds down they now find themselves free-falling out of contention. The A's lost for the tenth time in 12 games Wednesday night, and fell to a season-low six games under .500. They now trail the first-place Texas Rangers by 10 1/2 games. Maybe they can get a boost from their recently activated … [Read more...] about Will Coco Crisp be Sweet and Fulfilling for Oakland this Season?

"This was where I came to my first major league … [Read more...] about A’s Adam Rosales enjoys Wrigley Field Homecoming

MLB Road Trip: Oakland Athletics, White Sox West

August 13, 2009 By paulmbanks

By Paul M. Banks Thou shall not be a sports bigamist- that is one of the ten sports fan commandments. You got one team and you stick with them. But I often bend this rule. Sure, whenever my Chicago White Sox play anybody, the Sox are the good guys and the other team, they’re the bad guys. However, I’ve had moments when I’ve rooted for the Cubs (now is not currently one of … [Read more...] about MLB Road Trip: Oakland Athletics, White Sox West
