Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning Reportedly Being Evaluated Again

Thanks to our ever-evolving flow of news, we’re seeing countless different rumors about what’s going on with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Is he undergoing another neck surgery? Could he miss the Colts’ season opener at Houston on Sunday? Is he out for the entire season?

This much we have seen confirmed: ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that Manning was being evaluated by doctors once again regarding apparent slow progress in his recovery from offseason neck surgery. No further procedure had been planned yet.

We don’t know at this point how much time Manning may miss, but it’s starting to feel more and more like he’ll be a no-go for the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Texans.

New England Patriots Look Kinda Bad in 34-10 Loss to Detroit Lions

patriots female fans

Again, it’s preseason football and therefore scoreboards about as accurate and meaningful as compliments a stripper gives you, but losing 34-10 to the Detroit Lions wasn’t very promising for the New England Patriots because well, their starters got beaten kinda badly by Motown’s starters.

Chad Ochocinco did not have a good game. He dropped a pass, and had zero catches while being thrown to four times.

Analyzing the Minnesota Vikings Depth Chart

The addition of Donovan McNabb and Michael Jenkins on the offensive side of the ball have been the two most notable positive amendments during the offseason. The most newsworthy departure is undoubtedly the exit by offensive lineman and consistent Pro Bowler Bryant McKinnie.

After taking a look at the depth chart on the team’s official site, it is puzzling to note that Joe Webb has taken a stronghold on the number two quarterback position. All the fans heard on draft day was how smart and crafty Christian Ponder was. It’s hard to fathom that we would be third at this time then if Cam Newton is starting in Carolina. The Auburn product couldn’t even name a play that he liked when prompted. I am shocked that there would be hyperbole surrounding a prospect on draft day!

Indianapolis Colts Sign Kerry Collins

I have been saying this whole preseason that quarterback Peyton Manning would be good to go for the Indianapolis Colts’ season opener Sept. 11 at Houston.

I now concede it’s possible he might not be.

The Colts on Wednesday signed veteran quarterback Kerry Collins, who was Colts Vice Chairman Bill Polian’s first draft choice as GM of the Carolina Panthers, as insurance if Manning is unable to start Week 1.

Collins, 38, most recently played for the Colts’ division rivals, the Tennessee Titans, and started all but one game for the team during its charmed 2008 season; the Titans went 13-3 that season and claimed home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

While Collins might be a better option than current Colts backups Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky, it’s still a major concern for a team that relies so heavily on Manning.

Indianapolis Colts-Washington Redskins Preseason Primer

The Indianapolis Colts will defend their home turf for the first time this season.

Well, sort of.

That’s really to say the team will get to see if the young players it’s counting on in 2011 are up to defending the home turf when the games matter as the Colts welcome the Washington Redskins to Lucas Oil Stadium in preseason action at 8 p.m.

Indianapolis Colts Preseason Hot/Not — Week 1

As many of you might agree, the NFL preseason tends to drag along, so I’ve been sitting around brainstorming these past few days trying to come up with some interesting ways to hold us over until the games actually count.

Guys are going to be coming and going in the 3 1/2 weeks leading up to the Indianapolis Colts’ season opener in Houston, so it makes sense to gauge who’s in danger of losing his spot on the roster and who’s looking at a good chance to don the horseshoe in September. Also, we know some Colts will be on the roster no matter what, so we’ll also look at who of those guys just plain looked good or bad.

I owe my Yahoo! buddy Geoffrey Miller for this idea.

Without further ado, the first installment of Colts Hot/Not.

Chad Ochocinco Ready for The Patriot Way, Bill Belichick Upbeat About Transactions

belichick

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick addressed the media this morning to discuss the recent additions of WR Chad Ochocinco and DL Albert Haynesworth, he also talked about the veteran cuts they had to make. There was some snarkiness by BB when asked about how the two additions will fit into how he does things.

Many are questioning how the colorful personalities will mesh with the Draconian program that Belichick runs. See more on that after the jump.

Ochocinco also spoke with reporters this morning and said he’s willing to change to fit in in Foxboro.

“I’ll always be me. But there’s a certain way the Patriots do it, and I’ve always been a chameleon, and I’m going to do it the Patriot way, which is win,” he said.

He also knows Belichick doesn’t want him to be quite as outspoken and attention-seeking as he was with the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Bill, we had our talk and without him having to say anything, I’ll say, there’s no need for some of the things that have been before,” Ochocinco said.
