Bengals DB Dre Kirkpatrick has the WORST. Publicist. Ever!

dre-kirkpatrick

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback and former Alabama Crimson Tide star Dre Kirkpatrick really should consider getting a new publicist. Usually, picking on people this incompetent at their jobs is too much of a low hanging fruit, but lots of journalists received this horrifyingly bad pitch, and I don’t know if any of them called out its horribleness.

I’m certainly not one of those right-wing nuts who worships the idea of Social Darwinism, but I do believe America needs a healthy amount of it. If you suck that terribly at what you do, someone needs to tell you that you truly suck.

Notre Dame RB Cierre Wood entering NFL Draft

cierre-wood

Notre Dame running back Cierre Wood announced today he will forgo his final season of athletic eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft. Wood leaves Notre Dame as the seventh-leading rusher in school history, having gained 2,447 yards on 450 career carries. No running back in Notre Dame history with as many career rushes as Wood has a better yards-per-rush average as his 5.4 yards-per-carry average.

His departure, along with the graduation of Theo Riddick, means the bulk of the carries will likely go to George Atkinson III or that stud freshman tailback, the #2 recruit at his position coming in. With no stud running back prospects in this class, and no sure fire first rounders at the position, it’s anyone’s guess where he ends up. Maybe rounds 2-4?

Every year there’s a march of Alabama Crimson Tide players to the NFL. 2013 will be no different as four Bama players could go in the first round come late April. Three more could go in rounds 2-3. And (yes this is way too early to talk about it) Three more members of the Tide could be in the first round of the 2014 draft. With two more likely to go on the second day of the draft. Let’s talk about them all.

University of Georgia junior outside linebacker Jarvis Jones has decided to forego his senior season and enter the 2013 NFL Draft. When you’re projected to be the #2 overall, and perhaps even the first overall pick, the decision is quite easy. Jones could go first to Kansas City or second to Jacksonville. A finalist for numerous college football awards, Jones released this statement:

Manti Te’o Returns to Notre Dame; Puts NFL Draft on Hold

manti-te'o

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o has decided to hold off on the NFL money for now. The junior will return to South Bend for his senior season, Te’o announced Sunday night at the Lott IMPACT Trophy banquet.

In midseason he tweeted “Playin for my bros and that’s it!!!!” And this was during the same week Brian Kelly made public comments segregating players he recruited from those recruited by Charlie Weis. So it was widely previously expected that Te’o was gone.

#3 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. #14 Arkansas Razorbacks: Brutally Honest Game Preview

Get ready for the first of two college football national championship “elimination games” this weekend. In the SEC, you have #3 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. #14 Arkansas Razorbacks. Both have legit national title aspirations as do the #7 Oklahoma State Cowboys and #8 Texas A&M Aggies. In both conferences, you have other teams in the mix for the big prize, but eventually they’ll beat up on each other, and you may have only one left standing from each league. But don’t forget the Wisconsin Badgers from my neck of the woods and the Stanford Cardinal out west. Either/both of those squads could derail a SEC/Big 12 Challenge title game.

Getting back to Saturday, this really is going to be classic, offense vs. defense, big on big, eleven on eleven. So who do I have in the Arkansas offense vs. the Alabama defense (#2 in the nation in points allowed) ? Read on…

2010 NFL Scouting Combine Journal

By Peter Christian

The NFL Scouting Combine is one of the sporting events which truly exemplifies my dorky sports obsession. Long before the days of the NFL Network, I was always wishing I could see the drills and skills of the rookie prospects. Now, however, I don’t have to wish and clamor for that ability because for the next week, I will dedicate more than 12 hours to watching the drills live and on replay to whet my appetite for more knowledge about the players that will be drafted on April 22nd, 23rd and 24th.

New this year is the ability to watch both groups on the field with the aid of NFL.com which means I am plopped in front of the TV and the computer… My wife and kids hate me right now, but I’ve got my Powerade, I’m wearing my Under Armour. I’m ready to dive into my own nerdiness.

Laugh away, I’m having the time of my life.

Defensive Ends aplenty in this year’s NFL Draft

By Paul M. Banks

There are plenty of places to get 2010 NFL Draft prospect lists. But why stop at just providing a mere list? I’m giving you a prediction of where I think all of these great defensive ends (one of this draft’s most loaded positions) will end up in the draft this April.
