Everyone knows that the ‘Thursday Night Football’ game is a nice link between Monday and Sunday games, but produces cringe-worthy television. Chicago and New York are fortunate enough to get their mandatory mid-week game out of the way early. [Read more…]

What is the Chicago Bears Biggest Need?
It seems like such a simple question, but no one can provide a definitive answer.
In free agency, the Bears did quite a bit in terms of addressing some of their most glaring needs. The offensive tackle, tight end, and linebacker positions were all upgraded.
But with the NFL Draft less than a week away, predictions are still all over the board for who the Bears may take with the 20th selection.
In my opinion, this is a two-horse race: offensive lineman, or linebacker. Apparently, most draft experts don’t agree with me.
Follow paulmbanksNew York Giants Coach Tom Coughlin on the Daily Show (video)
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin applies lessons learned on the NFL football field to everyday life. The Super Bowl winning coach discussed his new book with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night. Tom Coughlin is one of many sports guests to appear on the Comedy Central fake news program. Stewart is a big Giants New York Mets fan.
And pretty soon we won’t be able to see Stewart for awhile as he will take a 12-week break this summer in order to make his directing debut on the true-life political drama Rosewater. Yes, he’s making a serious movie.
He did a great job with Tom Coughlin in this interview which you can watch after the jump. You know Tom Coughlin has a serious side.

While NFL fans are excited every Sunday there are the handful of games that everyone wants to watch. Whether it’s the classic rivalries like the Packers and the Vikings, or head to head matchups with high profile quarterbacks, these games should prove to be exciting and have rating spikes.
Jerome Manson is a sports enthusiast who enjoys both watching games and writing about them. When he is not cheering on his team from the stands, Jerome is blogging about The NFL for selectaticket.com.

There is nothing better than attending a pro sporting event, right? Some are for it, but I have a feeling most are against it. Truth is, I would rather sit at home and watch football games than attend them in person. People who have season tickets are crazy.
Follow paulmbanksPicking Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants tonight
This year the NFL started it’s season a day earlier, moving the traditional weekday night game featuring the current Super Bowl Champion up one day from Thursday to Wednesday. That means NFL fans get their fix even sooner as the Dallas Cowboys take on the reigning champ New York Giants in a key NFC East division battle.
Tony Romo and company look poised to have a big season, but only if the offensive line can keep him upright. No small feat versus the Giants’ army of pass-rushers. For more game time news click here.
Follow paulmbanks2012 NFL Season Preview: NFC East
With the NFL regular season rapidly approaching, let’s take a look at the intriguing NFC East. Featuring the reigning Super Bowl champions (Giants), the former “Dream Team” turned “dynasty in the making” (Eagles), the league’s most exciting rookie (Robert Griffin III), and America’s team (you know who that is), this division might just prove to be the wildest in the NFL.
Giants: Remember the 2008 team that started 11-1 after winning Super Bowl XLI? This squad could be similar, with a confident defending champion facing a mild early schedule. They addressed two big depth needs at RB and WR with their first two draft picks (David Wilson and Reuben Randle), while third-rounder CB Jayron Hosley has made some noise in the preseason. Just ask Mark Sanchez.

New York Giants‘ quarterback and 2012 Super Bowl champion Eli Manning visited CNN’s Starting Point to talk Peyton, Super Bowl ring, Saturday Night Live performance, off-field pranks, taking a month off and his work with nonprofit Build Our Kids Success before-school program.
Manning says, “You know, it’s one of those deals in New York. You win a Super Bowl, but I’m the third most talked about quarterback right now between Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow and I. That’s the way I like it.”
Follow paulmbanksThe only story with the Indianapolis Colts is Peyton Manning
Just so you know, the Colts have made a few major changes this offseason.
Bill and Chris Polian are gone. In their place is new general manager Ryan Grigson, formerly a member of the Philadelphia Eagles’ front office.
Oh, and former coach Jim Caldwell also is out of town. The new guy? Chuck Pagano, who spent the 2011 season as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator. Word is he plans to do away with the Colts’ familiar Tampa 2 defense and install a hybrid 3-4 scheme.
The Colts have some new coordinators too, you know. Bruce Arians, who was the team’s quarterbacks coach from 1998-2000 and previously served as offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is back in Indy to conduct the offense (Clyde Christensen isn’t gone, though. He’s quarterbacks coach now). Greg Manusky, who in 2011 was the San Diego Chargers’ defensive coordinator, now has that position here.
Any other offseason, these would be HUGE stories that would command their own blog posts. But this offseason? We hardly have heard a peep from or about any of these guys. There’s only one story surrounding the Indianapolis Colts right now: the very public dilemma between Peyton Manning and owner Jim Irsay that eventually will lead to the four-time MVP’s exit from town.
Follow paulmbanksGranddaughters of NY Giants owner Kate and Rooney Mara becoming film stars
Yesterday, as the entire world knows, the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. This gives the franchise 4 Super Bowl wins, to go along with their four NFL championships from the pre-Super Bowl era. All NFL fans know the name Wellington Mara, the Giants one time owner who is considered one of the league’s all time most important patriarchs.
However, the first Mara to own the team, and the builder of the family fortune was gambler/bookmaker Tim Mara, who bought the team for $500 in the early century. His son is Wellington who helped build up the brand to what it is today. The Maras still own half the team today. But now let’s take a look at Wellington’s granddaughters, and their “bodies of work.”
